The least expensive pickups are future-day pickups scheduled online for an urban non-residential address.

The most expensive pickups are same-day pickups scheduled by phone for a remote-area residential address.

FedEx pickup pricing

As of August 18, 2025, FedEx has increased its pickup fees:

Unfortunately FedEx's area classifications are difficult to determine in advance, because they don't provide a tool to check how they classify an address.

UPS pickup pricing

While UPS shows simple pricing online, its actual pricing structure is more complex and there are hidden surcharges for fuel, residential, and pickup area.

Surcharges can surprise you

Pickups are often more expensive than a carrier's pricing page might lead you to believe. That's because of additional surcharges that carriers explain quite poorly. The prices detailed above should be considered minimums, because a particular pickup might be more expensive if the carrier considers the address to be geographically remote.
